An engaged couple; he's picking her up from work in front of coworkers.

I got the 'eeeeeeeeeeew, aw, guys, come on, get a room', which is highly humiliating, and I started to wonder what people really think about affection in public. Because I'm a academic like that, who can't just let an interesting social quirk go. :D

Nope, they're just being high school–level immature wankers.

I try not to feel humiliated by that kind of social throwback, since it just validates their stunted social sense.

Edit to add: If they're operating on that high school level, they're probably just jealous.
